Purple flowers, Phillip Island and the Penguins
Went to Phillip Island to witness hundreds of penguins coming up the sea shore in their most natural habitat. Would have loved to take some pics but photography was not allowed.
The feeling was magical. The three of us huddled together in the biting cold wind with tens others on the seating stands, clamming cups of hot tea ( we brought a thermo flask with tea in it) as we waited patiently for the penguins to make their ritualistic shore landing. While waiting for the stars: the penguins to "take the stage" , we were entertained by this ridiculous parade of seagulls on the beach. Haha, I just find all these seagulls really funny, coz they would just stand there and stare at us in perfect stillness, however as soon as one of us took out a packet of snacks, they would then slowly inched forward, not swarming to our direction, but in that scheming stealth. We had fun just throwing cheese sticks in the air and just watched a bunch of them knock into each other just to grab it. Then Ilia suggested that we should throw a cheese stick at one of the annoying lady sitting behind us and let a swarm of seagulls ram into her face, hahaha.
Before that , we went to a separate strip of beach and the seaview was breathtaking, the waves were mounting high and crashed with thunderous bellow at the rocks. Chilly wind ate into our bones and we couldn't feel our ears but we were simply stupefied by the natural beauty of the coast. The beach was almost naked, with just three of us on it.
And even before that, we stopped by at Ilia's house and went to his backyard to play with his dog, Pommy. What can I say, the garden was so meticulously kept, with purple flowers twirling their tendrils on wires , lemon tree and rose trees. Most of the pics below were taken at his backyard.
Oil lamp and a green bottle make a nice contrast in colours...
