A Night Like This & A Survey Like This
It is now 12:40am. Radio is playing Michael Buble's "Home". This man's voice never fails to smoothen the ruffle of tension, unease within me everytime I listen to it. Nadya has gone to her brother's place.
Had wanted to write about so many things. But tonight, is a night to savour moments of solitude and listening to achingly yearning slow songs like Eric clapton's "Blue Eyes Blue", George Michael's "Don't let the sun go down on me."And expounding on a lenthy discussion of certain topics i have in mind seems to bulldoze too much rationality into such a night. A night meant for deep reminiscence, leisurely heart pace and to think of a particular someone.
So, i shall save what is there to say for another day. Saying them now is sacrilegious to a night like this.
A friend has passed on a baton survey via his blog for me to answer. Since a night like this is not a night for taking unto intellectual discourse, it can be a night to answer some questions spontaneously.
1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
Ans: this will be surprising. 0. yes. NIL. All my few hundred songs had died from tragic stillbirth with the passing on of my ex-laptop before i can burn them into cds, and this current laptop has too lil space to store music files. Radio is my thing now, u won't know what song comes on next, and when a great song hits me unexpectedly , i am instantly entirely captured by it.
2. The CD you last bought?
Ans:Keane-Hopes and Fear. Keane, a really talented UK band made up of three guys (well, not ones with typical boy-bandish good looks but ones whose songs u want to listen over and over again) who compose and sing their own songs. When i first listened to their songs, Coldplay came to mind.
3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
Ans:Luther Vandroos-I'd Rather
4. Write down five songs that you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
Ans:1)Innuendo-Belaian Jiwa. Hee, this is one of the song constantly played on Alice (Nadya's comp) and it has a haunting effect on both of us. One of our shared favorites. Listening to Malay songs sometimes evoke some sense of inexplanable longing for home.
2)Jay Chou- Kai Bu Liao Kou. The only chinese song Nadya listens to coz she said she likes this song eventhough she doesn't understand what Jay is singing about( trust me,Nadya, some of us don't know too, haha). Love this song too.
3)Corrine May- Fly Away. She rocks, enuff said.
4)Justin Timberlake-Cry Me A River. It is addictive.
5)Vonda Shepard-You Belong To Me. First listened to this song after Leeps said it is the theme song of her friend's wedding. Beautiful lyrics.
5. Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?
1) Jacq. How can the queen of KTV and cd collection miss this?
2) e* . Hee, used to sing to songs on radio when we were roomies. Even recorded our voices on tape recorder, horrendous, haha. Just wondering what songs she is listening to now in London.
3) yanmonster. Who is now chalking up her reading list...one who has voracious appetitie for books, what about songs? hee. Just wanna know..:)
